The Grand National is three days, not one. Thursday is Opening Day. Friday is Ladies Day — 40,000 outfits, the Style Stakes, the best people-watching day in UK racing. Saturday is the National itself. Each day has the same transport problem: the A59 Ormskirk Road grinds from about midday, the Ormskirk train runs hot, and Uber surges are routine.
